CN Latin America enlists Stan Lee’s Mighty 7

The reach of Stan Lee’s Mighty 7 (SLAM7) animated movie has been upped to 42 new territories thanks to a pan-regional deal inked between Genius Brands International and Cartoon Network Latin America.

The movieproduced by GBI joint-venture Stan Lee Comics, Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment and Archie Comics, is the first installment of the trilogy that originally debuted in the US on The Hub Network  in February 2014.

The 90-minute movie stars Lee as an animated superhero version of himself who teaches a crew of Earth-dwelling alien prisoners and their jailors how to work together to become their own unique superheroes.

Lending their voice talents to the film are Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Jim Belushi (The Defenders), Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), Darren Criss (Glee), Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) and Michael Ironside (Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising).

Distribution for the movie has already been secured by GBI throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Canada and the US earlier this year. And to date, the Stan Lee’s Mighty 7 brand has been licensed to Factory Entertainment (worldwide toy licensee) and Black Lantern (worldwide video game licensee), as well as to a number of US apparel and consumer products partners.

The deal was brokered by GBI’s Latin American sales agent Zasha Robles, who as director of Miami-based Spiral International, became GBI’s exclusive Latin American sales agent last September. As part of that deal, Spiral International distributes Genius Brands’ animated content across the region, including its Baby Genius, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab and Secret Millionaire’s Club properties.
